RSPCA West Dorset Branch is a separate charity affiliated to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).  We cover the towns of Dorchester, Bridport, Weymouth, Portland, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Sherborne and Axminster (Devon) as well as all the surrounding villages and hamlets.  Our main priorities are the welfare and rehoming of local animals.  We raise our funds within the Branch boundaries and all money raised is spent within the area.  We are responsible for "Taylors Animal Rehoming Centre" at Kingston Maurward, Dorchester.

If you wish to report an Animal Emergency or have concerns regarding the welfare of an animal please telephone 0300 1234 999.  Please also call this number if you need to have an unowned or wild animal collected by an RSPCA Animal Collection Officer.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL US REGARDING EMERGENCIES OR CRUELTY AS THIS IS NOT THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY OF DEALING WITH SUCH MATTERS.  CALL 0300 1234 999 AND REPORT THE MATTER TO THE RSPCA NATIONAL CALL CENTRE.  THANK YOU.

Leave a Legacy

In the past the RSPCA West Dorset Branch has been deeply indebted to those local people who have been kind enough to remember the Branch in their wills.

Please remember that if you wish to leave a legacy to the RSPCA to be spent helping animals in the West Dorset area and at 'Taylor's Animal Rehoming Centre' your will must be specifically worded to mention the West Dorset Branch, otherwise the legacy will go to RSPCA HQ to be spent on the Inspectorate and other general purposes of the National Society. Please contact RSPCA HQ direct if this is your wish.

Any member wishing to leave a legacy to the RSPCA West Dorset Branch / 'Taylor's Animal Rehoming Centre' should ensure that the following wording is used in their will:

I give the sum of _________ to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals West Dorset Branch (Registered Charity No. 248616) and I declare that the receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the said Branch shall be sufficient discharge for the said legacy.

If you already have a will, your solicitor can add to it a section (a codicil) based on the above words.  You should always consult a solicitor regarding the preparation of your will.

Thank you.

Get Involved

Maggie and Bobby, July 2008

Our active supporters are our most important resource.  We are always seeking new volunteers within the Branch area, even if it's just once a year at our Taylors Open Day, or at a fete or fair.  You might like to get involved in the running of the Branch.  Our Branch Committee is responsible for the running of the Branch and we are always seeking new members with various administrative, professional and practical skills.  If you are keen to get involved we would love to hear from you.  There is something that everyone can do we can make the most of what you have to offer.   Check out the Jobs Available page for fuller details of volunteer help required.

Do you own a vehicle that you want to sell or get rid of?

Then please donate it to us through Giveacar!

Giveacar is a non-profit fundraising organisation that raises money for UK charities by scrapping and selling old cars.

They provide a FREE nationwide service which:

  • Arranges collection of the vehicle from your home

  • Depending on its age and condition, recycles it at an Authorised Treatment Facility or sends it to auction.

Scrap donations raise an average of 35 (depending on the price of metal) while auction cars can raise much more.

Since Giveacar was set up in 2010, the organisation has already raised over 2million for 1500 charities!

To arrange collection of a car, visit http://www.giveacar.co.uk/charities/rspca-west-dorset or call 020 7736 4242, quoting RSPCA WEST DORSET BRANCH as your preferred charity.
